We took a few day off last week-end and headed to the hectic and beautiful London. This town is my second favorite city in the world (the first being Paris => yeah I am chauvinistic). Especially around Christmas time, the Brits surely know how to achieve that Christmas spirit.
During those 4 days in the British capital, we had two main activities : Shopping and Eating (what a surprise). London offers an outrageous amount of cafés, delis, restaurants and other bakeries with a great variety of specialties from all around the world.
And of course, I found that a London edition of a “What I Eat in a Day” post was an obligation.
Here is a reminder of my commitment to you regarding my “What I Eat in a Day” posts, I will:
- share everything that I ate for the day (including the chocolate, pastries and “carpe-diem” meals)
- include full recipes as much as possible (if homemade)
- try to tell you my opinion about my day of eating (was it balanced ? if not, what will I do to compensate on the next day ?)
So let’s start.
WHAT I EAT IN A DAY #2 – UK EDITION
BREAKFAST – 9:30am
- scrambled eggs with mushroom on a toast
- Flat white coffee
MID MORNING SNACK – //
- no mid-morning snack, i was full from my breakfast
LUNCH – 12.30 am
- Starter : a small green soup
- Main : lamb meat balls with sweet potatoes and lentils
- Dessert : a small date ball
GOUTER – 5 pm
- 1 cookie
DINNER – 7pm
- Starter : a small portion of green olives
- Main : a veggie pizza
- Dessert : no dessert I was full
The day started well: good breakfast, good lunch. And then the apocalypse: combo cookie-pizza. For my defense, we were walking around 15km each day during the week-end. I clearly needed an extra amount of food. But the cookie goûter followed by the pizza dinner let me so full that I was rolling on the floor to get back to our AirBnb.
During vacation, I find it harder to have a balanced way of eating: sometimes you can’t find what you want to eat, sometimes you are starving so you go for the first food you can lay your hands on.
But it is OK. It really is OK.
I enjoyed the food I ate, the cookie (artisanal) was really really good and the pizza (also artisanal) was delicious as well. I had a good time with family and I have no regrets.
BUT, the fact that I don’t regret it does not mean I don’t have to take action and balance the extra the next day! The morning after, I got a simple granola with yogurt and tried to increase my greens throughout the day.
Those four days were definitely a festival of “carpe-diem” meals, I enjoyed every single one of them. But now that I am back, I am going on a little body reboot to be sure I get back to my normal self. I won’t do the full 2 weeks stuff, a week is enough for me right now!
If you just got back from vacation and feel like you went a little cray cray on food, get back on the health wagon and try my body reboot!
Did you enjoy this what I eat in a day post ? Would you like more of them ?
